What if the family I am sitting for is ill?

Modified on Fri, 24 Mar 2023 at 11:51 AM

This happens to every kiddo from time to time! Whether it is a simple case of the sniffles, or something more serious, we expect Parents to disclose to a Sitter any time a child is ill during a booking. This policy allows the Sitter to choose whether to accept the booking or decline it. Sitters will not be penalized for canceling a confirmed booking if it is discovered that a child is ill and it was not included in the initial special instructions. However, we all understand that symptoms of an illness can come on suddenly! In those cases, we urge Parents and Sitters alike to be understanding of the other’s situation.

For Sitters: If you no longer feel safe caring for a child, you must let the parent know as quickly as possible so that they can make other arrangements. Contact the parent FIRST. Once the parent has been contacted, contact our Member Care Team to note your account. You can do that by emailing us at
